JAMMU, Oct 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has already officially unveiled its 20-member Ranji Trophy squad for the 2025–26 domestic season, reaffirming its commitment to consistency, strategy, and player rotation as per the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) guidelines.
As mandated, the match-day squad will include 15 players, allowing the team management flexibility to tailor selections according to pitch conditions, opposition strength, and form.
Brig Anil Gupta, Member Administration JKCA, emphasized that the process is entirely in line with BCCI’s regulations and ensures fairness and transparency in team selection. “The 15-member squads will be announced for each match or a set of fixtures depending on the prevailing conditions and the behavior of the pitches,” he stated, dispelling any speculation regarding changes or reduction in the overall squad.
For the upcoming high-stakes encounter against Mumbai, JKCA has named a formidable 15-member lineup blending youth and experience. The squad features top-order reliability and explosive middle-order depth with Shubham Khajuria, Qamran Iqbal, Yawar Hassan, Vivrant Sharma, Paras Dogra (captain), Abdul Samad, Musaif Aijaz, and wicketkeeper-batter Kanhaiya Wadhawan. The all-round strength is boosted by Sahil Lotra and Abid Mushtaq, while the pace attack—led by Yudhvir Singh, Umran Malik, Aquib Nabi, and Umar Nazir—adds a lethal edge to JKCA’s bowling arsenal. Sunil Kumar’s inclusion reinforces the balance of the side.
The remaining five talented players—Rohit Sharma, Kawalpreet Singh, Lone Nasir Muzaffar, Mujtaba Yousuf, and Vanshaj Sharma—are also part of the 20-member season roster and stand ready to step in as circumstances or match conditions demand. This strategic rotation policy is designed to maintain player fitness, foster competition for places, and build bench strength for the long domestic season ahead.
