JAMMU, Feb 14: In a stepped-up anti-terror campaign, police in Doda district have put up posters at strategic locations seeking public assistance to trace active terrorists, including a Pakistani commander of the banned Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit identified as Saifullah, officials said on Saturday.
The posters, carrying photographs and brief details of the suspects, have been displayed at key checkpoints and public places such as Nagri, Dessa, Ganpat Bridge at the Doda entry point, and Thathri. Officials said more notices are being pasted in vulnerable areas to widen outreach and gather credible inputs, assuring complete confidentiality and protection to informants.
The initiative comes amid intensified security operations across the Jammu region following recent encounters and intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in high-altitude belts.
Meanwhile, security forces on Saturday busted a terrorist hideout in the Chilli forest area of Gandoh in Doda district, recovering eatables and blankets. Officials said the materials indicate recent movement, prompting intensified combing operations in adjoining forest areas.
The poster campaign is part of broader efforts to dismantle terror networks in the Chenab Valley, including Doda and neighbouring Kishtwar districts, which have witnessed renewed militant activity in recent years.
Over the past month, massive search operations in Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri and Poonch districts have led to nearly a dozen encounters, resulting in the killing of four Pakistani JeM terrorists and an army soldier. (Agencies)
