J&K: SOG team recovers 500 gm heroin from Samba village

JAMMU, July 26: In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered 500 grams of heroin from Chilayari village in Samba district, located close to the International Border.

According to official sources, the recovery was made early Saturday morning during a routine patrol by the SOG team. The heroin was found concealed in the border village, raising suspicion of cross-border smuggling activity.

Authorities are probing the mode of transport, and sources say the possibility of a drone drop cannot be ruled out. The contraband has been seized, and further investigation is underway to trace its origin and intended recipients.

The incident underscores the ongoing challenges of narcotics trafficking along the international border, with increasing use of drones and cross-border operatives for drug smuggling. Security forces have intensified surveillance and are working to dismantle the networks involved.
