Srinagar, Jan 16: Security forces on Friday recovered a live mortar shell in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, which was later safely defused by the Army’s bomb disposal squad, officials said.
The shell was detected during digging work near an Army unit in the Rampur area of north Kashmir. Following the recovery, the area was immediately secured and the local police were informed, officials added.
An Army bomb disposal squad subsequently carried out the operation and safely disposed of the mortar shell in the presence of police personnel. No loss of life or damage to property was reported during the operation, officials said. (Agencies)
