    Terrorism down but still breathing

One can gauge well the situation with regard to terrorism in J&K by analyzing the statements made by LG Manoj Sinha and SSP Baramulla. Both these helmsmen have admitted that terrorism is very much there in parts of J&K, contrary to political leadership of the country sitting at helm and seeking electoral favours in the name of crushing terrorism in J&K.

The LG’s statement that like in Kashmir, the terrorism in Jammu areas will also be crushed. No doubt the LG has said this in context with highlighting that his government is resolute in containing the terrorism but another message which could be inferred from this statement is that after Kashmir the terrorism has struck Jammu region and the statements about terror-free J&K are premature and holds no meaning unless the situation will improve in this part of the UT.

Of course, there is no doubt in the fact that police, army and CAPFs are determined to crush terror, and their personnel are doing everything possible to do the same but those claiming that terrorism has been eliminated seems to be in a hurry as their statements are not inclined with the absolute truth.

In this context, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh has also divulged something which contradicts the claims of entities seeking favours in the name of crushing terrorism fully.

Reportedly, the aforesaid police officer has stated that terrorist activities in the district have not completely ceased. J&K Police Officer, without mixing words has said, “It’s not that terrorists are present only in Jammu. We continue to receive daily intelligence inputs about terrorist movements in Baramulla, especially due to its proximity to the Line of Control (LoC).” He has also said that the threat has not entirely vanished and security forces remain alert.

Although, the content of this write up should not be taken as complete contradiction against the government stand on wiping out terrorism from J&K but it should be taken as an advice to be cautious against the enemies of the country, who are still hovering around and can cause damage in case the ‘self-righteous’ dispensation will consider lowering the guard against the terrorists either in Kashmir or in Jammu parts.
