Jammu, Nov 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has issued fresh guidelines for determining the seniority of police officers, amending provisions under Rule 111 of the J&K Police Rules, 1960.
According to the new notification, seniority will now be determined by the order of appointment or promotion, with direct recruits taking precedence if appointments occur on the same date.
For officers required to pass departmental courses before confirmation, seniority will be based on aggregate merit at the time of selection and during basic training, both carrying equal weightage.
The order clarifies that officers who complete training or confirmation later will be placed at the end of their batch, while in case of a tie in aggregate merit, age will determine seniority, giving preference to the older officer.
