Srinagar, Oct 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Congress leadership will hold a crucial meeting this afternoon at the party headquarters in Srinagar to plan its strategy for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections and assembly by-polls.
The meeting will be chaired by PCC president Tariq Hameed Karra and attended by senior party leaders, according to officials who spoke to the news agency.
Discussions are expected to focus on the party’s roadmap for the four Rajya Sabha seats and the Budgam and Nagrota assembly constituencies, where by-polls are scheduled in November.
Confirming the development, senior Congress leader Abid Kashmiri told news agency, “Yes, the meeting will take place this afternoon to chalk out strategy for both the Rajya Sabha and Assembly by-polls.”
Party insiders said the Congress has been in active discussions with the National Conference (NC) over a possible understanding for the Rajya Sabha elections.
The NC recently announced its candidates for three out of the four seats, leaving one seat open as part of ongoing talks with Congress. The Rajya Sabha polls are scheduled for October 24. (KINS)
