Jammu, Apr 30: Getting the better of Safran Junior Cricket Club in an easy context by 7 wickets in the summit clash, Jammu Strikers Cricket Club lifted the title trophy of the ongoing Cricket U-19 One Day Tournament, which was jointly organised by Safran Cricket Club and Country Cricket Academy at Country Cricket Stadium Gharota, near here.
Earlier, batting first, Safran Jr Cricket Club scored a modest total of 157 runs in 32.1 overs.
Ashutosh Mahajan top scored with 49 runs off 45 balls, studded with 6 boundaries.
For Jammu Strikers Cricket Club, Sagar Sangotra was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 wickets by conceding 35 runs in his 9 overs, while Jehanveer Singh and Vansh claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Jammu Strikers Cricket Club chased the target easily in 22.4 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus winning the match in an easy contest by 7 wickets.
Varun played a magnificent innings of 95 runs off 65 balls, studded with 15 fours and 3 sixes. while Vansh contributed valuable 30 runs to the total.
For Safran Jr Cricket Club, Ashutosh Mahajan, Utkarsh Koul and Aman Rajput took 1 wicket each. Varun was adjudged as the man of the match and best batsman, while Ashutosh was declared man of the series and best bowler and Prayrit Das Gautam was the best fielder (wicketkeeper).
The Tournament. an initiative of Country Cricket Club and Safran Cricket Club was held under the overall supervision of Vikrant Sharma and Sarthak Khoda.
Six teams took part in this tournament.
The participating teams included Safran Cricket Club, Jammu Strikers, Crossway Academy, Katra Academy, Weekend Warriors and Red Capes XI.
