Jammu completes 100% vaccination above 45 age, Srinagar worst performer in UT

    Date:

Tawi, Jul 01: The Covid vaccination process in Jammu and is going on since January 16 but two capitals of the UT has two different stories to narrate as one has completed the process of vaccination in above 15 years age before 15 days while the other is the worst performer in whole region.

In Jammu district over 28 percent of people have been given second dose of vaccination while as in Srinagar just six percent of people have received a second dose of vaccination.

As per data, Jammu district has not only given the first jab of Covid vaccine to all above 45 years of ages but has also given first jab to around 7 percent more people belonging to other districts of the UT.

In Jammu district which has population of 3,51,890 persons above 45 years of age, they have given first dose to 3,75,194 extra people belong to other districts and around one lakh people which accounts for over 28 percent of the population has been given second jab.

However, in Srinagar, only 58 percent of people have been given first jab of the Covid vaccine and are at the bottom as per the performance in terms of vaccination.

Officials said that only Kupwara district was behind Srinagar, however, district administration has ramped up the process and are now ahead of Srinagar.

Officials said that out of 274,850 people above 45 years of age in Srinagar 159,979 (58 percent) people have received first dose while as just 17,560 (6 per cent) persons have received the second dose.

Pertinently, J&K administration has already missed two deadlines to vaccinate all above 45 years age, first till ending May and later till ending June.

Several top officials told that Shopian and Ganderbal has less population that is why they have completed vaccination process of all above 45 years of age, however, on asking them that Jammu has more population, they failed to give any answer.

Notably, experts believe that vaccination is the only way to save ourselves from the severity of the infection
