    Isn’t it a Ceasefire Violation?

Why the two incidents of firing from across the border in Rajouri District leading to serious injuries to an army Jawan yesterday should not come under the category of violation of truce pact of 2003, which was rejuvenated successfully by the Narendra Modi Government in the month of February in 2021 as since then no bullet was fired between the two countries along the Line of Control (LoC).

It is pertinent to mention that on February 25, 2025 the rejuvenated ceasefire pact between India and Pakistan along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to complete four years, marking a rare period of peace between the two countries.

Although, when the issue is between India and Pakistan, it is always necessary to consider things very minutely and with great care but the government’s stance over the recent firing incidents from across the LOC is going to be vital to assess the status of the famous truce pact between the countries agreed upon in the year 2003.

It is important to differentiate unprovoked firing from across the LoC on stipulated lines because there should be no confusion over the issue as the latest incidents of firing from Pakistani side have even injured a soldier critically, who was manning a forward post in the Kalal area of Nowshera sector.

Earlier on February 8, an army patrol was fired upon from a forest across the LoC in Keri sector. The Indian troops had also fired a few rounds in retaliation and subsequently security was strengthened to keep a tight vigil in the area.

Isn’t it necessary for the Indian security forces to raise this issue with the Pakistani counterparts claiming it to be serious violation of the ceasefire pact between the two nations or it is alright to paint these incidents as a simple attack by some individuals who wanted to cross over to this side to create unrest in J&K as part of the proxy war waged by Pakistan to destabilize India?

The matter is of utmost importance as such cases should not be taken as lightly because the confrontation was not verbal rather bullet fires have been exchanged, having potential to snatch away the lives of Indian soldiers guarding the borders and even the civilians living in the vicinity.
