New Delhi, Sep 10 – Apple on Wednesday unveiled its latest smartphone lineup at the “Awe Dropping” event, introducing the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the ultra-thin iPhone Air. The new models boast faster processors, redesigned cameras, improved thermal management, and Apple’s longest-ever iPhone battery life.
Key Highlights
Performance: Pro models run on the A19 Pro chip with 12GB RAM, while the iPhone 17 and Air feature the A19 chip with 8GB RAM. The new processors promise a 40% CPU boost over the iPhone 16 and enable advanced AI features, including an upgraded Siri due in 2026.
Cooling & Battery: Vapor chamber cooling stabilizes performance during demanding tasks. Apple claims the iPhone 17 Pro series delivers the longest battery life yet, while the standard iPhone 17 adds up to eight more hours over its predecessor. Fast charging supports 50% charge in 20 minutes with Apple’s new 40W adapter.
Camera Upgrades
Pro models: Feature a 48MP main sensor, 8x telephoto lens with variable aperture, and 8K video recording, making them suitable for professional creators. The front Center Stage wide camera improves framing in video calls and selfies.
iPhone 17: Equipped with a dual 48MP Fusion system including an Ultra-Wide lens with macro capabilities. The main sensor doubles as a 2x telephoto lens.
Design & Display
Pro models feature a dual-tone unibody chassis with Ceramic Shield 2 glass and metal (titanium dropped this year). Display sizes: 6.3 inches (Pro), 6.9 inches (Pro Max), both with 120Hz ProMotion, 3,000 nits brightness, and always-on display.
iPhone 17 carries a 6.3-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display, now also with ProMotion. All models are IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.
The Air, Apple’s thinnest ever iPhone, focuses on portability.
Software & AI
The lineup runs on iOS 26 and supports Apple Intelligence, a proprietary AI suite offering smarter Siri, camera enhancements, and cross-app improvements. Dual SIM (Nano + eSIM) is supported globally, with eSIM-only models in select markets.
