    Interaction prog on ‘Fellowships & Career Opportunities in the Impact Sector’ held

    Jammu Taw: The Department of Computer Application, Physics, and College Placement Cell of Government Degree College (GDC), Paloura, in collaboration with the SBI Youth for India Fellowship, organized an interactive session on “Fellowships and Career Opportunities in the Impact Sector” to inspire students in the fields of social entrepreneurship and rural development. This flagship initiative encourages young professionals from diverse backgrounds to work within rural communities, addressing developmental challenges and supporting sustainable growth along with their career advancement. The session began with a warm welcome from Dr Sikander S. Khan, Department of Veterinary Technologies. In his opening remarks, Dr. Khan emphasized the importance of innovation in rural areas and provided an overview of the various startup initiatives supported by the SBI Youth for India Fellowship program with special emphasis on 13 months training module. The seminar’s keynote speaker, Abhishek Iyappan, gave students a detailed overview of the fellowship’s framework, highlighting the extensive training, mentorship, and research opportunities it offers to aspiring entrepreneurs across different sectors. Iyappan underscored the fellowship’s hands-on approach, where participants collaborate closely with rural communities to design, implement, and scale impactful solutions to local challenges. Using practical examples, he illustrated how the fellowship blends innovation with empathy, empowering participants to create meaningful, lasting change. More than 100 students from the final year participated in the session. Dr Bharat Mahajan, the co-speaker, also addressed the gathering, sharing valuable insights. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Joginder Kumar, Head of the Computer Applications Department. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal of the college.
