Jammu/Srinagar, Dec 6: IndiGo on Saturday resumed nine of its 11 flights from Jammu Airport but cancelled seven from Srinagar as nationwide pilot-rostering disruptions continued to derail operations.
The partial revival at Jammu brought relief to passengers stranded after repeated cancellations, while eight flights — seven of them IndiGo — were grounded at Srinagar International Airport.
Officials said IndiGo had been scheduled to operate 36 flights to and from Srinagar — 18 arrivals and 18 departures — but seven incoming and seven outgoing services were cancelled due to rostering issues. One more flight operated by another airline was also suspended. Further details are awaited, they said.
At Jammu Airport, the nine restored services will run as scheduled, though flights connecting Jammu with Mumbai and Hyderabad remain suspended, an airline official confirmed.
Passengers narrated their ordeals. “I am going back to Delhi, my flight is working today,” said a relieved Rajni Goyal, who had faced two days of uncertainty. She said passengers waited up to nine hours without accurate updates, causing distress for families.
Another traveller, Kashish, said uncertainty persists despite partial restoration. “Only nine of the 11 flights are operating — I’m not sure whether I’ll actually fly,” he said, terming the situation “unprofessional and very sad.” He claimed fares on other airlines had skyrocketed from about Rs 4,000 to Rs 30,000 and alleged a “nexus,” with trains also fully booked.
