Two Indian athletes who have made their mark at the biggest sporting stage will share insights from their Olympic journeys at an event in the national capital today. Shooter Manu Bhaker and boxer Lovlina Borgohain, fresh from competing at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will attend The Indian Express' Adda talks to interact with the audience.
The athletes have established themselves as role models in their disciplines and for the rising women's sport in the country thanks to success at top events. Lovlina ensured India's return to the Olympic boxing podium in Tokyo 2020 by winning a bronze, following a barren campaign in Rio 2016. She has since become a world champion as well. Though she narrowly missed a second Olympic medal in Paris, Lovlina's accomplishments over the past years make her an inspiration.
Manu too entered Paris 2024 aiming to better her Tokyo performance where she couldn't progress past the qualifiers in the three events. However, she achieved unprecedented success by winning not one but two bronze medals in the individual and mixed team pistol shooting competitions. Manu came agonizingly close to completing a historic hat-trick of medals.
The two star athletes will now share their experiences of preparations, challenges, lessons and dreams for the future at the insightful interactive session moderated by a senior sports journalist. Their journeys exemplify India's rise as an emerging force in global sport. As the nation's eyes turn to Los Angeles 2028, Manu and Lovlina are set to remain at the forefront when the country seeks to better its medal tally two years from now.
