    GDC Kathua organizes workshop on Space Science Instruments

    Kathua: The Department of Physics at Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua successfully organized one-day hands-on training workshop as per New Education Policy (NEP-2020) for undergraduate students of Physics Skill Course. The workshop was conducted at Model Astrophysics Lab., an indigenous integrated initiative of IIT Kanpur for achieving the goals under quality as envisaged in NEP established at GHSS, Kharote, Kathua. The event was aimed to familiarize students with space science instruments and provide practical experience with technologies used in space research and exploration. The technical sessions have been designed in collaboration with Mr. Manpreet Singh, Assistant Project Engineer, Model Astrophysics Lab and faculty of physics department of GDC, Kathua headed by Dr. Dinesh Jasrotia. During the training, students had the opportunity to work directly with various space science instruments, such as telescopes, satellite models, etc. Prof. Seema Mir, esteemed Principal of GDC, Kathua lauded the students for their active participation in skill based training workshops. She emphasized the significance of hands-on training in enabling students to apply the theoretical knowledge to the real world scenarios effectively and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, especially for students pursuing studies in the field of Physics and space sciences. The training programme was coordinated by Dr. Daya Ram, Assistant Professor, GDC Kathua. The insights of the event were highlighted by Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Dr. Ahsan Elahi, Prof. Ajay Sharma and Dr. Gopal Sharma of Physics Department, GDC Kathua. The event technicalities were legitimated by Prof. Ravinder Kour, IQAC, Coordinator, of the college and  Pritam Dass, Principal, GHSS, Kharote, Kathua.
