All the accused had fled to Delhi after killing Sumit Jandiyal alias Gattaru at the busy Jewel Chowk of the city on January 21. They were being searched and chased by the Jammu Police.

Meanwhile, on Monday, 5 accused were arrested from ISBT Terminal by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police and J&K Police. Khauf Gang, Gattaru Gang and Shalu Gang are active in Jammu Division and all these gangs included youth from border areas. The most worrying aspect is that earlier these gangs were known to be using sharp weapons to inflict serious injuries to the members of their rival factions in their fights, but now these gangsters are openly using pistols and revolvers. Along with this, now gangsters are also active in illegal operations, extortions and drugs peddling in Ramgarh, Vijaypur, Bishnah, Bari Brahmana and RS Pura areas in recent times. These areas have now become hotspots for highway robbery, drug smuggling and land disputes related to mafia groups. The growing links between land mafias and drug syndicates are posing a serious challenge for law enforcement agencies.
