Srinagar, Sep 31: In first of its kind, the State Bank of India (SBI) has taken an initiative to ease the sufferings of Dal dwellers as well as the tourists by installing an ATM at world famous Dal Lake here in Srinagar.
The first-ever ATM has been installed at Ghat number 8 and was inaugurated by Chairman SBI, Dinesh Khata in presence of SBI's Chief General Manager Chandigarh Circle, Anukool Bhatnagar on August 16.
The ATM has put an end to the sufferings of Dal dwellers as well as the tourists, who were earlier being forced to cross the water body to reach ATM.
The floating ATM has been installed on the houseboat namely New Life, belonging to Saqib Ibrahim Baktoo.
Local dwellers, demanded other Banks to follow the suit and put an end to the sufferings of locals and tourists. “The vital places at world famous Dal Lake should be identified and ATMs must be installed there so that people could heave a sigh of relief,” they said.
