Explosion outside temple in Rajouri, search op on

    Rajouri, Jan 29: A mysterious explosion outside a temple in a village in Rajouri, Jammu Division sent the security agencies into a tizzy while extensive searches have been launched to track down those behind the blast.

    An explosion took place on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday and the explosive material went off near the boundary wall of Kali Maa temple located at Chokian Kotdhara road near Rajouri.

    The priest of the temple informed that explosion took place at around 01 AM last night but no one was aware about the site of explosion and things got clear in the morning only.

    “A portion of land near boundary wall got damaged in the explosion with splinter marks on wall also while some residuals believed to be of the explosive material were also lying there,” locals told.

    Meanwhile, army and police launched search operation in the area to nab any suspect with senior officers also rushed to the spot for investigation.

    “We have registered a case in police station Rajouri and investigation has been started,” SSP Rajouri said in an official statement.

    Meanwhile, locals from Palma Kotedhara village have expressed anger over explosion at a temple demanding identification of accused and action as per law.

    Pertinent to mention here that three members of Jammu Kashmir Gazanvi Force were arrested in Mendhar area of Poonch last month who were planning to lob grenades over some religious places in the district with an aim to disturb the communal harmony—(KNO)
