Don’t go off guard in Jammu Division!

Date:

Recovery of arms and ammunition, narcotics and cash along border Districts in Province has made it imperative for the BSF, army and other security forces guarding the borders to remain on tenterhooks as these men on duty cannot afford to go off guard for the enemy country is looking for an opportunity to dent the interests of through stretches which due to loopholes have been allowing the western neighbour to pursue attempts to continue with proxy war which it has waged for the last several decades.  In this context, reportedly BSF has detected and defused two explosive devices after locals informed the force about some suspicious material packed in a Polythene bag in the Sherpur area, around 2 kilometers away from the Border in Kathua District. No doubt that the security forces deputed in the Valley have contained Pakistan sponsored terrorism in a big way but lately, the terror mongers have turned towards districts in Jammu Province as several terror attacks have been carried out in the districts of Poonch and Rajouri, and incidents of arms dropping and smuggling of narcotics through drones has also in vogue across frontier line from Pakistan side necessitating round the clock vigilance along borders.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan's use of proxy warfare involves indirect means to exert influence and achieve its despicable objectives. By supporting and infiltrating terrorist groups, the adversary seeks to destabilize the Union Territory while maintaining ‘plausible' deniability. Understanding the dynamics of this proxy war is essential in formulating effective counter-strategies.

The Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) in Jammu Province have become hotbeds for infiltrations and cross-border terrorism. Pakistan's security forces often exploit the challenging terrain and porous borders, making it imperative for Indian security forces to maintain a heightened state of alertness. A concerning evolution in this proxy war is the use of drones to carry out attacks and smuggle things which help in abetting terrorism, which is part and parcel of Pak's proxy war. Pakistan has increasingly utilized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to drop weapons, explosives, and other contraband. This unconventional tactic poses a new challenge that demands advanced technological countermeasures to safeguard the region.

There is no doubt that security forces are doing their best but still there are gaps which are required to be plugged in as early as possible as the persistent threat of infiltration remains a major concern. Pakistan continues to facilitate the movement of terrorists across the borders, further fueling insurgency in the UT. Robust intelligence gathering and a fortified security apparatus are crucial in countering these subversive activities. Albeit, in response to the proxy war, Indian security forces have implemented comprehensive counter-terrorism measures but further bolstering the surveillance, intelligence network and intensifying strategic operations is pivotal in disrupting terrorist networks and preventing their nefarious activities. The integration of cutting-edge is crucial in countering the evolving tactics of Pakistan's proxy war. Advanced surveillance systems, drone detection and interception technologies, and cyber security measures are vital components of a modernized defence strategy.

As Jammu remains on the front lines of this protracted conflict, the resilience and determination of security forces, coupled with strategic efforts, are imperative in safeguarding the region and neutralizing the threats posed by Pakistan's proxy war.
