Jammu Tawi: Sunil Dimple, President of the Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir, led a strong protest rally in Jammu demanding the immediate restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, special status, and the implementation of the Instrument of Accession conditions signed by Maharaja Hari Singh. The rally, which took place on Janipur High Court Road, was organized in response to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s failure to restore J&K’s statehood in a timely manner.

Dimple, addressing the protestors, criticized the recent session of Parliament for being unproductive and failing to discuss the Jammu and Kashmir issue. He alleged that discussions on various national issues, such as Adani and the Constitution, overshadowed the pressing matters of J&K’s future. Dimple reiterated his demand for the immediate restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and the implementation of the Supreme Court’s verdict, which, according to him, calls for the restoration of the state’s special status. He criticized the abrogation of Article 370 and the creation of a Union Territory, stating that it had caused immense suffering for the people, especially the youth, in Jammu and Kashmir. One of Dimple’s key demands was the unification of Pakistan-occupied Jammu-Kashmir (PoJK), Gilgit, and Baltistan with Jammu and Kashmir, the reintroduction of the state subject system, and the cancellation of all domicile rules imposed post-Article 370 abrogation. He also condemned the cancellation of over 1.2 lakh ration cards in the region, alleging that it was a conspiracy to deprive the people of their basic rights, including free ration, LPG gas cylinders, and electricity.

Criticizing the BJP leadership, Dimple stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had failed to provide a clear commitment or a timeline for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.

He urged the Chief Minister to take immediate steps to implement the Instrument of Accession and reintroduce the state subject system.
