Dimple leads protest demanding restoration of Statehood, Darbar move

Jammu Tawi: Mission Statehood President Sunil Dimple led a protest rally at Rehari Chungi, BC Road on Tuesday, urging Union Home Minister Amit Shah to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, special status, and Darbar Move. The rally, attended by hundreds of people, aimed to send a strong message ahead of Shah’s two-day visit to J&K on May 29–30.

Addressing the crowd, Dimple demanded that Shah announce a comprehensive financial and employment package for youth, and make arrangements for tight security for upcoming religious pilgrimages, including the Amarnath and Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatras.

Dimple blamed the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor for collapsing the region’s tourism and transport sectors, further urging Shah to revive the economy by restarting the Darbar Move and compensating border victims. He also questioned the BJP’s post-Article 370 achievements, highlighting continued terror attacks, targeted killings, and a deteriorating economy. Dimple warned of escalating agitation if statehood restoration is not announced soon.

He appealed to CM Omar Abdullah to stand firm on statehood and special status, and criticized the lack of coordination between Raj Bhawan and the elected government, citing public suffering.

Further demands included liberating PoJK, providing free water, 12 LPG cylinders, and 200 units of electricity for residents. Leaders including Sudesh Kumar, Tarsem Lal, Rocky Kapoor, and others joined the protest.
