The reports emanating with regard to bolstering security along borders, both IB and LoC are enough to hint that everything is not right along the borderline between India and Pakistan as rogue neighbour is leaving no stone unturned to spread unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.
Reportedly, the BSF has recently bolstered its strength along the Punjab-Jammu border by deploying more troops in Gurdaspur which is next to Jammu. This was reportedly done to check the infiltration of terrorists from the India-Pakistan border to Jammu via Punjab. Besides, the Director General of Police RR Swain has also indicated that the terrorists might be using a tunnel for infiltration to this side. He categorically said that tunnels can't be dug without knowledge or support of the Pakistan army making it clear that the surge in infiltration is part of Pakistan's next move to continue its proxy war in this part of India only to destabilize J&K.
Infiltration across the Line of Control (LoC) and the IB has become one of the most significant challenges for security forces. Despite a relatively stable ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, there are growing concerns that the Pakistan Army continues to covertly support infiltration attempts into Indian Territory. This support complicates the situation, making it difficult for security forces to maintain peace and stability in the region.
As the Jammu region has been witnessing an increase in terror incidents, one can conclude that the terror groups operating from across the border are getting logistical support, training, and even cover fire by the Pakistan Army, allowing them to breach the borders and carry out terror attacks in J&K. The presence of terrorists infiltrating the region poses a direct threat to the safety of civilians and security personnel.
Combating this challenge requires a multi-pronged approach as the present set-up seems to be inadequate because the presence of foreign terrorists is proof that there are still many gaps along the borderline, which the security forces need to plug in to stop the entry of insurgents to this side.
Although the task is tough, India has no choice because it cannot afford more loss of life and property through this devious design conceived and crafted by the terror mongers dwelling in Pakistan.
Infiltration remains a critical issue that tests the resolve and preparedness of security forces. While efforts to counter it are ongoing, there is dire need to change the strategy and leverage technology also to end this menace once and for all ensuring lasting peace, which is still elusive.
