Congress Plans Law to Protect Infiltrators in Assam: PM Modi

GOGAMUKH (ASSAM), Apr 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday alleged that the Congress would bring in a law to protect infiltrators in Assam if voted to power, asserting that the BJP and its allies would oppose any such move.

Addressing a poll rally in Dhemaji district, Modi claimed that the Congress aims to “turn the majority community into a minority and create a permanent vote bank of infiltrators”.

He further alleged that Congress leaders are openly advocating for legal protection of infiltrators in the state.

The Prime Minister also accused the party of attempting to divide the country, drawing parallels with the role of the All-India Muslim League during Partition, and said it had “stabbed” the Constitution framed under B. R. Ambedkar.

Modi said that if the BJP returns to power in Assam, it will implement the Uniform Civil Code and safeguard tribal rights under the Sixth Schedule to preserve the state’s identity.

Highlighting the BJP’s governance, he said the past decade has ushered in an era of service and good governance in Assam, expressing confidence that the NDA will return to power, while the Congress will continue to face electoral defeats. (Agencies)
