Congress launches state-wide “Haryana Maange Hisaab” campaign demanding answers from ruling BJP government

The Congress party in Haryana has blown the starting whistle for the upcoming state legislative assembly polls with the launch of its intensive ‘Haryana Maange Hisaab’ (Haryana Demands Answers) drive from Sonepat district over the weekend. Top party leaders including former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state unit president Udai Bhan addressed a massive gathering of local party workers, firing up the crowd to take the campaign across cities and villages.

Addressing a charged up gathering, Congress state in-charge Deepak Babaria urged party members to go all out over the next few months to expose the unfulfilled promises and failures of the ruling BJP regime. He said it is incumbent upon every Congressman to reach out to people with the questions being raised by their campaign on issues like jobs, law and order, debt burden, and deteriorating economic conditions in the state.

Hooda, who served as CM for a decade until 2014, accused the BJP government of pushing Haryana to number one position in the country on the wrong metrics like unemployment, crimes, debts, and drug abuse. He asserted while on one hand development came to a standstill, corruption and scams have become rampant under Khattar-led BJP rule. Other leaders also launched scathing attacks on the government over its “reckless policies” that have impacted livelihoods.

This major campaign launch suggests elections could be announced soon in Haryana. Through townhalls and mass mobilization drives across 90 constituencies, the Congress aims to reconnect with citizens and present a credible alternative with extensive focus on issues impacting common people in the state. The high-decibel campaign launch signals the beginning of what is likely to be a fiercely contested election battle in Haryana.
