Jammu, Jan 21: House Listing Operations (HLO) across Jammu and Kashmir will be held from June 1 to 30 as part of the upcoming census, with self-enumeration starting 15 days earlier, officials said Wednesday. The Union Territory Level Census Coordination Committee, chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, approved the schedule, with the government expected to issue the formal notification by January 31.
To ensure smooth self-enumeration, technical assistants and charge officials will guide citizens during the 15 days preceding field operations. Director Census Operations, J-K and Ladakh, Amit Sharma, presented the framework for Census 2027, India’s first fully digital census, highlighting innovations such as the Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS), self-enumeration, and caste enumeration.
The meeting outlined the sequence of census activities, including training, self-enumeration, house listing, and population enumeration, along with detailed timelines. Officials approved rapid hiring of manpower at UT, district, and charge levels and directed deputy commissioners to establish District Level Census Cells, nominate officers, and identify master trainers, supervisors, and enumerators.
Chief Secretary Dulloo stressed close coordination between the administration and census directorate, urging full support from all deputy commissioners to ensure accurate and timely completion of the exercise, assuring government cooperation for its success. (Agencies)
