Jammu, Apr 27: The Central Bureau of Investigation have arrested a revenue official in bribery case.
The official spokesman here on Sunday said that the CBI team nabbed one Patwari of Sudh Mahadev block in Tehsil Chenani of District Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant.
A case was registered against the accused on a complaint, he said, adding, “The complainant had applied for issuance of Fard (land record) through designated online portal.
“It was alleged that two applications of the complainant were deliberately rejected by the Patwari without any valid reason,” adding he said that further, the complainant allegedly met with accused Patwari, who demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000/ from the complainant for processing and issuing the Fard.
After negotiation, accused agreed to teduce the bribe amount to Rs.40,000/.
The CBI, he said that laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant.
Subsequently, the accused was arrested and search was conducted at the residential premises of the accused
The accused was produced before the Court of Special Judge, Anti- Corruption (CBI Cases), Jammu on Sunday and the Ld. Court remanded the accused to Judicial Custody for 14 days.
