BJP misleading public on special status resolution: Cong

Jammu Tawi: JKPCC Senior Leader Ravinder Sharma has criticized the BJP for misleading people about a recent resolution seeking special status for the protection of land jobs, natural resources, and cultural identity in the Jammu region. Sharma argued that Congress is committed to fighting for full statehood with special status to safeguard land jobs, natural resources, and cultural identity, similar to Himachal Pradesh and over dozen other states in India. Sharma argued that the BJP tried to create a wrong notion, but people have been seeking these rights. He emphasized that Jammu has suffered most in the last five years post abrogation of special status, as land, jobs, and resources are being taken over by outsiders rapidly, and future generations will suffer. Sharma argued that it is in the best interest of all that the special constitutional guarantees for Himachal Pradesh and northern states be worked out after a dialogue with elected representatives of Jammu and Kashmir. BJP national spokesperson Amit Malviya had rightly welcomed the resolution, but later saw it as a way to exploit emotional cards for vote bank politics in the wake of assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
