Jammu, Feb 8: Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed ongoing counter-terrorism operations and the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir during a visit to forward areas, with deliberations also focusing on the infusion of advanced technologies to further strengthen operational capability, the Army said on Sunday.
General Dwivedi attended a high-level security review meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and visited the White Knight Corps headquarters in Jammu on Friday, before touring the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri on Saturday.
According to the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army, the Army chief visited the Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) under the aegis of White Knight Corps to assess the prevailing security environment and operational preparedness.
He was briefed on ongoing counter-terrorism operations, the effectiveness of the security grid and measures undertaken to maintain sustained vigilance in the region, the ADGPI said in a post on X.
The Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo), also known as CIF (R), is a specialised Army formation tasked with neutralising terror networks in the difficult terrain of Rajouri and Poonch districts.
The ADGPI said discussions during the visit also centred on enhancing inter-agency coordination and the induction of advanced technologies to further improve operational efficiency.
The Army chief commended personnel for their unwavering dedication, professionalism and steadfast commitment to duty, lauding their sustained efforts in maintaining a high state of readiness under challenging conditions.
The interaction, the Army said, reaffirmed the Indian Army’s firm focus on vigilance, preparedness and operational excellence. (Agencies)
