Srinagar, Mar 14: Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested an employee of the Power Development Department while allegedly accepting a bribe on Thursday.
ACB said Javid Ahmad Raina, a resident of Bandipora district of north Kashmir who is an employee of the PDD Department, was arrested while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 6500.
A statement by the ACB said a complaint was received from an individual, alleging that Raina was demanding bribe for providing electricity connection.
Accordingly, a case was registered with Police Station ACB Srinagar, and investigation was taken up.
“During the course of the investigation, a trap team was constituted for laying traps for the accused public servant. The team laid a successful trap at Soura Grid Station and arrested PDD official red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 6500 from the complainant,” the statement said, adding further investigation into the case is going on.
