New Delhi, Jul 22: Leaders of several Opposition parties on Wednesday staged a protest in the Parliament premises, demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the police action against students protesting the alleged NEET paper leak.
Dressed in black to express solidarity with the agitating students, Opposition MPs raised slogans against the government and accused it of mishandling the issue.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined the demonstration along with members of the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Left parties, RJD, Trinamool Congress, JMM and other INDIA bloc constituents.
The protesting MPs reiterated their demand for accountability over the NEET controversy and condemned the police action against students.
Earlier in the day, floor leaders of several INDIA bloc parties held a strategy meeting in the chamber of Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge to chalk out their parliamentary strategy. Rahul Gandhi and senior leaders from various Opposition parties attended the meeting.
The protest comes amid continued Opposition attacks on the Centre over the NEET paper leak issue, which has remained a key point of contention inside and outside Parliament. (Agencies)
