Dehradun, Jul 17: A 35-year-old man who allegedly impersonated senior officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) using forged identity cards and uniforms to dupe people of lakhs of rupees has been arrested in Dehradun, police said.
The accused, R. Yashovardhan, son of a retired senior bureaucrat, was arrested from Mussoorie Road on Thursday after investigators linked him to multiple cheating cases.
Police recovered five fake identity cards of different government agencies, eight forged visiting cards, 25 police and Army logos, and three sets of Army and paramilitary uniforms from his possession.
The arrest followed two complaints registered at Rajpur Police Station. In the first case, Anshul Upadhyay alleged that Yashovardhan cheated him of Rs 15 lakh by promising to expedite the registration of a company in his late mother’s name.
In the second complaint, Dr. Anusha accused him of fraudulently taking Rs 4.60 lakh on the promise of securing her a job as a data science consultant with the Ministry of Defence.
