    Amarnath Yatra 2026 : For first time; Govt decides to have one offline registration counter for security concerns

    Jammu Tawi, Jun 22: For the first time in the history of Shri Amarnath Yatra, the offline i.e on the spot registration of the pilgrims undertaking this holy pilgrimage from across the country will be done at one place at Tawi River Front and not at any other place as it earlier used to be.

    Earlier, the offline/on the spot registrations for the Amarnath pilgrims were done at various places like Vaishnavi Dham, Sarswati Dham, Mahajan Hall and  Geeta Bhawan.

    “The decision for the offline/on the spot registrations for the Amarnath pilgrims at one place i.e at Tawi River at Jammu has been taken by the government keeping in view the security of the Amarnath pilgrims,” sources said.

    They further said that the registration counter for the offline registration of pilgrims at Tawi River has been opened.

    All the security arrangements including installation of high resolution CCTV cameras and advanced surveillance system has already been put in place at Tawi River Front for the security of pilgrims and to ensure safe and secure pilgrimage.

    Apart from the security point of view, this initiative will also promote tourism in Jammu as pilgrims visiting Jammu will also come across Tawi River Front which Has been developed on the lines of Sabarmati River Front of Gujrat, they said.

    The sources also said that arrangements for 24X7 langars for the pilgrims have also been put in place for the Amarnath pilgrims at Tawi River Front.

    Apart from this, all the transit camps and also the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, have all also been equipped with high-tech CCTV cameras and the advanced surveillance system has also been put in place for ensuring safe, peaceful and secure Shri holy Amarnath Yatra this year 2026.

    The transit camps at Samba and Kathua and also the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, have all been equipped with high-tech surveillance system, including high resolution CCTVs which have been installed in and around the surroundings of the transit camps and also the base camp ahead of Shri Amarnath Yatra to ensure safe, secure and peaceful pilgrimage, official sources said.

    The transit camp set up at Samba for the Amarnath yatries has a capacity of a little over 300 pilgrims, while the transit camp at Kathua has the capacity of a little over 150 yatries.

    The base camp at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, has a capacity of a little over 4000 in the main hall, while around 5000 pilgrims can also stay in the open area under tight security.

    The holy Amarnath Yatra, this year, will be of 57 days and will begin from 3rd of July and will culminate on 27th of August.
