Punjab Police Bust Foreign-Linked Gangster Module, Arrest Three

CHANDIGARH, June 21: Punjab Police have busted a gangster module linked to foreign-based handlers and arrested three operatives, recovering three sophisticated foreign-made pistols and ammunition, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Sunday.

The operation was jointly conducted by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, and Counter Intelligence, Jalandhar, in coordination with a central agency. An FIR has been registered at the SSOC police station in Amritsar.

According to the DGP, preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were acting on the directions of foreign-based gangsters involved in gang wars, extortion and other disruptive activities across Punjab. The trio was allegedly responsible for transporting weapon consignments and carrying out criminal activities at the behest of their handlers abroad.

The arrested operatives are also linked to a murder case registered in Amritsar and an attempted murder case in Batala.

Sharing details in a post on X, Yadav described the operation as a major breakthrough against organised crime and gangster networks. He said further investigation is underway to identify the wider network and trace other associates connected with the module. (Agencies)
