Jalna (Maharashtra), Jun 19: A case has been registered against the principal of a private school and two teachers in Maharashtra’s Jalna district over allegations that a Pakistani song was played during a school programme, police said on Friday.
The Partur police have booked principal Wazhiyoddin Siddiqui and two staff members under Sections 152, 196, 197 and 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which include charges related to endangering national unity, promoting enmity and spreading misinformation.
According to police, the action followed social media allegations that students of Kids World English School, Partur, performed to a Pakistani song during the school’s annual gathering held in March 2025. It was also alleged that an image of Pakistani extremist Mumtaz Qadri was displayed during the event.
The controversy escalated after local BJP MLA Babanrao Lonikar demanded strict action against the school management and cancellation of its recognition.
However, the school administration has denied the allegations. Principal Siddiqui said the music used during the programme was from the Turkish TV series “Ertugrul Ghazi” and not a Pakistani song, adding that the image shown was of an actor from the same series.
He further alleged that visuals were tampered with and misleading content was circulated on social media.
Police said a detailed investigation is underway to verify the facts. (Agencies)
