CBSE to Begin Re-evaluation Process for Class 12 Exams: Dharmendra Pradhan

NEW DELHI, May 28: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday announced that the re-evaluation process for the CBSE Class 12 examinations will begin following concerns over discrepancies in the evaluation process.

Speaking to the media after a meeting with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officials in New Delhi, Pradhan assured students that all grievances related to the examination results would be addressed and no query would remain unresolved. He said accountability would be fixed at every level to ensure transparency and fairness in the evaluation system.

Taking responsibility for the discrepancies reported in the results, the Education Minister said corrective measures would be taken and appropriate solutions worked out to resolve the issues faced by students.

Pradhan said the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system introduced by CBSE is a progressive evaluation mechanism that is increasingly being adopted by universities and institutions in India and abroad. He noted that this was the first time the CBSE had implemented the system on such a large scale in the country.

The minister said nearly 40 crore scanned answer-sheet pages were evaluated through the OSM process during the current examination cycle, marking a major technological transition in the board’s assessment system.

He reiterated that the government and CBSE are committed to ensuring a transparent, efficient and student-friendly examination and evaluation process.
