NEW DELHI, Apr 21: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday said civil servants play a crucial role in bridging gaps, fostering inclusivity and strengthening trust between the State and citizens, as she greeted bureaucrats on the occasion of Civil Services Day.
In a message shared on X, the President said the integrity and empathy of civil servants would be instrumental as India moves forward with renewed aspirations.
She noted that from framing innovative, future-oriented and citizen-centric policies to ensuring their effective implementation on the ground, civil servants significantly impact the lives of millions.
“As Bharat advances with renewed aspirations, your integrity and empathy will be instrumental in bridging gaps, fostering inclusivity, and strengthening trust between the State and its citizens,” Murmu said.
She urged officials to continue upholding the highest standards of public service and contribute to building a more equitable and progressive nation.
Observed on April 21 every year, Civil Services Day marks an occasion for civil servants across the country to reaffirm their commitment to public service and excellence.
The day commemorates the historic address of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, independent India’s first Home Minister, to probationary civil services officers in 1947 at Metcalf House in Delhi, where he described them as the “steel frame of India”. (Agencies)
