BHUBANESWAR, Mar 13: Former Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir Rashmi Ranjan Swain has been appointed as the first Chairman of the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC), officials said.
A 1991-batch IPS officer from Odisha, Swain recently retired as DGP of Jammu and Kashmir in 2024 and now becomes the inaugural head of the commission responsible for recruitment to uniformed services in the state.
A native of Rourkela, Swain had a distinguished policing career and served as Senior Superintendent of Police in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Poonch and Ramban.
He also held key assignments in the J&K Vigilance organisation and served as Special Director General of CID. Swain is known for his tough stance against terrorism and played a significant role in curbing terror funding networks in Jammu and Kashmir.
