    Situation Precarious

God forbid that Indian citizens, especially students in Iran, are harmed as the prevailing situation out there is quite uncertain and could lead to risky outcomes. It is for sure that the Indians currently living in that country are in a dilemma about what to do and what not to do because war seems to be looming, and trouble is in the offing.
Under these conditions, people should follow the advisories issued by the central government from time to time. As far as the Union Government is concerned, if it feels that the situation could escalate, it should make it clear to the Indians in Iran not to take any chances and leave the country as soon as possible.
In this context, the Indians especially those belonging to Jammu and Kashmir should follow the advice which has also been reiterated by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urging students and residents of Jammu and Kashmir currently in Iran to return home without delay, warning them not to take the government’s advisory lightly as tensions escalate in the Middle East.
It is worth noting that there are students from J&K pursuing their studies in Iran and are finding it difficult to decide what to do under the present crisis as their crucial exams have been scheduled in the month of March, 2026.
In this context, reports suggest that many among those presently living in Iran have expressed their desire to return home but say they are unable to do so because of their upcoming examinations. It is pertinent to mention that educational institutions have not announced any postponement of the examinations despite the prevailing uncertainty placing them in a difficult position. If they decide to stay back for exams, their lives could be in danger and on the contrary their decision to come back could jeopardize their careers as they would lose one academic year.
Of course, saving one’s life should be the priority and therefore it is advisable for them to follow the advisory by the Indian government and points highlighted by the CM Omar Abdullah that commercial flights were still operating as the situation in Iran is stable, and therefore it is necessary not to take the aforesaid advisory lightly because if things remain alright, they can go back.
It is imperative that the advisory should be taken very seriously because if the situation worsens in the coming days, it will be difficult for the government to evacuate citizens. All said and done, what is important is for the Indian community in Iran to pack their bags and return as the famous Urdu proverb says, ‘Jaan Hain Toh Jahan Hai’.
