Bandipora, Jan 12: A Border Security Force (BSF) constable was charred to death after a fire broke out in a barrack of the 62nd Battalion BSF in the Madar area of Bandipora district late Sunday night, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Jalandhar in Punjab, officials said.
According to officials, the fire engulfed the barrack during the night, and due to the intensity of the blaze, Kumar could not be rescued, leading to his death.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Authorities said an investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances that led to the incident. (KNC)
