    J&K: Suspected Pakistani Drones Spotted Along LoC, IB; Searches Launched

    Jammu, Jan 12: Security forces detected the movement of suspected Pakistani drones hovering over several forward areas along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) in Samba, Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening, officials said.

    Officials said all the flying objects crossed over from the Pakistan side and returned after hovering over Indian territory for a few minutes. Following the sightings, security forces launched ground search operations in the affected forward areas.

    In Rajouri district, Army troops guarding the Nowshera sector along the LoC opened fire with medium and light machine guns after spotting a drone movement over Gania-Kalsian village at around 6.35 pm, officials said.

    Another drone was sighted at Khabbar village in the Teryath area of Rajouri at about 6.35 pm. The drone, carrying a blinking light, reportedly entered from the direction of Dharmsal village in Kalakote and moved towards Bharakh, officials said.

    In Samba district, a drone-like object with a blinking light was seen hovering for several minutes over Chak Babral village in the Ramgarh sector around 7.15 pm, they said.

    Similarly, another drone-like object was observed moving from the direction of Tain towards Topa in the Mankote sector along the LoC in Poonch district at around 6.25 pm.

    Officials also recalled that on Friday night, security forces recovered an arms consignment allegedly dropped by a Pakistan-origin drone in Paloora village of Ghagwal near the IB in Samba district. The consignment included two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition and a grenade, they added. (Agencies)
