CM Omar virtually inaugurates Integrated Ski Training Programme

Jammu, Jan 6: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday virtually inaugurated a 14-day Integrated Ski Training Programme aimed at promoting winter sports and positioning Kashmir as a premier skiing destination at the national and international levels.

The programme will be conducted across key winter पर्यटन hubs—Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Doodhpathri—and is designed to strengthen Kashmir’s presence on the global skiing map, the Office of the J&K Chief Minister said in a post on X.

According to the post, the initiative will provide certified ski training to around 500–600 students in the 12–18 age group during the current year, while also giving a significant boost to winter tourism in the region.

Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s focus on nurturing young sporting talent and leveraging Kashmir’s natural potential to expand adventure tourism. (KNC)
