Ladakh Administration Rebrands LG Residence as ‘Lok Niwas’

Leh, Nov 30 — The official residence and office of the Ladakh Lieutenant Governor, earlier known as Raj Niwas, has been officially renamed *Lok Niwas*, marking a symbolic shift toward citizen-focused governance.

Announcing the development on X, the Office of the Lt Governor wrote, “A historic moment for Ladakh. Today, Raj Niwas has been officially renamed as Lok Niwas, symbolising our deep commitment to people-centric governance and inclusive development.” The post was shared along with a photograph of Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta standing beside the new nameplate installed at the entrance.

Officials said the renaming reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening direct engagement with citizens and enhancing accessibility in governance. The new name underscores Lt Governor Gupta’s focus on transparency, accountability, and inclusive development across the Union Territory, aligning the institution more closely with public aspirations.
