Jammu, Nov 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Government, with the concurrence of the Chief Justice of the High Court, has designated 20 District and Sessions Courts across the Union Territory as Special Courts for the speedy trial of offences under the Mines and Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
According to the order, these courts will exclusively handle cases related to illegal mining and other violations under the Act to ensure faster disposal and stricter enforcement. The move is aimed at curbing the rising instances of illegal extraction and transportation of minerals by strengthening the judicial mechanism.
