Srinagar, Aug 19: Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have arrested a teenage girl for allegedly killing her 14-year-old younger sister, officials said on Monday.
The victim’s body was recovered near her home in Shepora Ganderbal on Sunday morning, triggering anger and protests in the locality. Police registered a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident.
Forensic teams collected samples from the spot. Locals told police the sisters were last seen together shortly before the crime.
During questioning, the elder sister admitted to striking her sibling with a stick during an argument, leading to her death, an official said. She has since been taken into custody. (Agencies)
