2 Drug Traffickers Caught With 6 Kg Heroin in Amritsar

Chandigarh, June 8 — In a major crackdown on cross-border drug smuggling, Punjab Police arrested two drug traffickers and seized six kilograms of heroin in Amritsar, officials said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Gurditta alias Kalu and Captain, were apprehended near village Bhakna by the Amritsar Rural Police while transporting the contraband on a motorcycle, said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

The heroin consignment, believed to be sent by Pakistan-based handlers, was intended for further distribution in Punjab. A third suspect involved in the operation is currently absconding and being pursued.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Gharinda. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the broader drug network and cross-border links. (Agencies)
