    Injured accuses police of shooting after surrender

    Jammu Tawi, February: The Ring Road under Miran Sahib Police Station today echoed with the sound of bullets fired injuring a youth namely Daljot Singh and arresting him along with his companion Aman Singh alias Anu.

    According to police, they received reliable information aarresbout movement of some gangsters who were accused in Mandal Phalan firing case, in a white Mahindra Bolero car coming from Samba to Jammu via Ring Road and acting on the inputs, police laid a Naka on the way. A source said that Naka party signaled Bolero car to stop at the check post but driver tried to escape and in a brief encounter the accused was injured and arrested with his associate on the spot.

    Police took the injured youth to Jammu Medical College Hospital where he was identified as notorious criminal Daljot Singh alias Daljot Punjabi resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Satwari Jammu and the arrested youth was identified as Aman Singh alias Anu resident of Kathua.

    Police said the accused were signaled to stop on Miran Sahib Ring Road but the persons onboard opened fire on the police party. Police gave chase and in retaliatory firing, one Daljot Punjabi was injured while the other accused Aman Singh alias Anu was arrested.

    An FIR has been registered in Police Station Miran Sahib and investigation has been started. Meanwhile, talking to Northlines, the injured Daljot said that he along with his friend had surrendered before the police party that signaled to stop and he handed over his weapon but still he was deliberately shot in the legs by the police on the spot after his surrender.

    It is worth mentioning that an incident of firing took place in Phalan Mandal area a few days back, where some miscreants reportedly fired on the car of Arun Chaudhary and then fled from the spot. Later investigation suggested that the accused were part of an organized gang. No person was injured in the firing incident at Mandal Phlian, but the criminals had vandalized two vehicles parked at the place of incident.

    After the firing incident in Phalian Mandal, the police had interrogated Sumit Kumar son of Tarsem Lal resident Nandpur, Miran Sahib Jammu, Rishu Kumar son Tarsem Lal resident Malikpur, Miran Sahib, Arun Kumar son of Asha Nand resident Phalian Mandal, Shubham Sharma son of Ashok Kumar resident Miran Sahib.
