Mysterious deaths: Dy CM, Health Minister, CM’s Advisor to visit Budhal to review situation, meet victim families

Jammu Tawi: Following a mysterious crisis that has claimed 16 lives in Budhal Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has directed Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo, and Chief Minister’s Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani to fly to the village to assess the situation and meet with the victims’ families.

Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary, speaking to news agency  stated, “On the Chief Minister’s directions, I, along with the Health Minister and Nasir Aslam Wani, will visit Badhal to review the situation and support the affected families. We are waiting for clearance as flying conditions are not suitable.”

The deaths, reported over the past month and a half, have caused widespread concern in the remote village. While the exact cause remains unclear, authorities are focused on providing reassurance to the local community.

In an update on the response efforts, the ACD Kotranka assured the public, “We have thoroughly checked all local shops, including medical and grocery stores, and the samples have tested negative. There is no cause for panic.” He further added that several homes in the affected area have been sealed off as a precautionary measure.

Health Department teams have been collecting samples from various locations, and reports so far have ruled out infectious diseases. “Certain houses were sealed initially due to fears of infection, and families have been relocated to safer locations where they are being provided with food, water, and medicines,” the ACD said.

Medical teams are working tirelessly to monitor the situation and address any emerging symptoms. The ACD reassured residents, emphasizing that there is no evidence of any virus or bacterial infection spreading, urging people to remain calm, stay warm, and practice hygiene.

Investigation into the cause of the deaths is ongoing, and the administration has pledged to uncover the root cause of the tragedy. The ADC expressed deep sorrow over the losses and assured that every necessary measure will be taken to prevent further incidents. (KINS)
