Hyderabad, Dec 14: Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of Air Staff, emphasized that the oath taken by newly commissioned officers at the Combined Graduation Parade at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal was a lifelong commitment, not just a ceremonial vow.
Speaking to the graduates, Singh reminded them that their allegiance to the Constitution of India would guide their careers in the Indian Air Force. As they completed their rigorous training, he highlighted that this was just the beginning of a long journey dedicated to service, growth, and integrity.
Singh acknowledged the years of discipline that had gone into the cadets’ training, urging them to remember that their careers would require continuous growth and adaptability. “You will be constantly pressed to expand your horizons, increase your limits, and discover new skills and capabilities. You will operate and maintain sophisticated aircraft and systems,” he said.
The Air Chief Marshal stressed the importance of physical and mental fitness, encouraging the new officers to engage in sports, pursue hobbies, and cultivate a habit of reading to keep their minds sharp.
Reinforcing the significance of the oath, Singh said, “The oath you took today, bearing allegiance to the Constitution of India, is a commitment for life. Work honestly and faithfully with utmost dedication and integrity throughout your career.” He further reminded the cadets that their service now extended beyond personal interests. “You live not for yourselves, but for others—the interests of your nation, the interests of the men and women placed below you,” he added.
Concluding his speech, Singh wished the new officers an exciting and fulfilling career, urging them to uphold the core values and traditions of the Indian Air Force with honor.
