Amritsar, Dec 09: A suspected Pakistani intruder was shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) troops along the International Border in Punjab’s Amritsar district on Sunday night, a BSF spokesperson confirmed on Monday.
The incident took place near Mahawa village, when BSF personnel noticed suspicious movement in the border area. “During the night hours, alert BSF troops on duty observed the movement of a Pakistani intruder, who had crossed the international boundary and was approaching the border security fence under the cover of darkness,” the spokesperson said.
Despite being challenged by the BSF, the intruder continued running towards the fence, prompting the troops to open fire. “Noticing his aggressive behavior, the troops fired upon the advancing intruder, neutralizing him on the spot,” the spokesperson added.
A shoulder bag containing clothes and personal belongings was recovered from the site, the spokesperson noted. Authorities are investigating the incident further.
