Katra, Nov 29: The School of Physics at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) hosted an expert talk today by Prof. Zoltán-Imre Dudás, a senior researcher and Head of the Department at Budapest Neutron Center (BNC), Hungary. The talk, held in a hybrid format, was titled “Research at the Budapest Neutron Center: Utility of Neutrons in Material Science”.
Dr. Kamni Pathania, Head of the School of Physics at SMVDU, welcomed Prof. Dudás and introduced him to faculty members, students from the M.Sc. Physics, Integrated B.Sc. (Physics)-M.Sc. Physics programs, and research scholars. Prof. Dudás began his session by offering a comprehensive overview of the Neutron Spectroscopy Laboratory at BNC, focusing on the practical applications of neutron spectroscopy and diffraction techniques in material science.
He also shared insights into the specialized research conducted by his team at BNC, demonstrating how neutron techniques are used for investigating complex materials. Additionally, Prof. Dudás provided valuable guidance on preparing and submitting successful research proposals to the Budapest Neutron Center.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Pankaj Biswas, Assistant Professor at the School of Physics, and Ms. Neha Lalotra, a research scholar at the same school. The talk was well-received by all attendees, with participants expressing appreciation for the informative session.
